meet julia

Hi, I’m Julia and I am a psychodynamic counsellor and supervisor with over ten years’ experience supporting clients and therapists in developing deeper understanding and meaningful, lasting change.

I work in private practice and welcome enquiries from individuals seeking counselling or therapists seeking supervision.

Counselling

I offer a warm, open, and containing space where clients can explore the challenges they face, patterns in their relationships, and their sense of self. I believe that a genuine therapeutic relationship, one grounded in curiosity and compassion, can support clients in making meaningful change. Since qualifying in 2015, I have worked with clients to develop a deeper understanding of themselves and the ways they relate to others.

Working from a psychodynamic perspective, I help clients notice repeating patterns of behaviour that may sit outside of conscious awareness, and explore how their current ways of relating and responding have been shaped by earlier life experiences. I pay attention not only to what is brought into the room, but also to what unfolds within the therapy relationship itself, recognising this as an important source of insight and change. My approach is steady and reflective, combining depth with gentle challenge.

I work with clients whose lives have been affected by trauma, including developmental and relational trauma. Where appropriate, I integrate EMDR to support the processing of experiences that feel intrusive, overwhelming or difficult to move beyond. This work sits within a broader relational understanding of each person’s history.

Supervision

I offer psychodynamic supervision that attends to unconscious processes, relational dynamics and the underlying patterns within clinical work. I work alongside therapists to deepen and refine psychodynamic thinking, exploring how these dynamics show up both in client work and within the supervisory relationship.

Within a reflective and containing space, I support careful exploration of clinical material, helping therapists to notice patterns, gain perspective, and engage with their work in a thoughtful and considered way.
